A delegation led by Fuad Naghiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, represented Azerbaijan at the 123rd session of the UN Tourism Executive Council held in Segovia, Kingdom of Spain, on May 29–30.

As part of the event, elections were held among representatives from Ghana, Greece, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates—candidates for the post of Secretary-General of the Organization for the 2026–2029 term—with the participation of member states of the Executive Council.

For the upcoming term, the position of Secretary-General of UN Tourism was awarded to Ms. Shaikha Al Nowais, representative of the United Arab Emirates.

The Azerbaijani delegation also included Ramiz Hasanov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Spain and Permanent Representative to the UN Tourism.
